OpenWebMail and 2nd Apache outside chroot or thttpd?

I want to use OpenWebMail, but everything else I have is chrooted and 
I'd like to keep those items chrooted.

Should I try to run a second, non-chrooted Apache alongside of chrooted 
Apache or would I have better luck using an alternative server such as 
thttpd?
I don't really want to run PHP apps such as squirrelmail  or hastymail. 
Hear too much bad stuff about PHP security.
