Well I am happy that I am not the only one who gets such great results. Propably it's mp-Kernel related. I do use a mp-Kenrel as well. Something else I did noticed is that I had 2 freezes even I did not used qemu (but kqemu loaded and I watched movies (wmv) using mplayer)). I suspected a fault in mplayer and userldt but not it looks like kqemu could be the true reason somehow. I say it clearly: I can't fix such a bug because it will be for sure kernel related and I simply do not know smth. about it. Furthermore if the Bug was already known todd@ may has no clue either. Modern CPUs provide VM-options in HW. So has somebody the clue + the time to may write a virtualD or something familiar? It wont be an easy task imho. This idea came up as I recently read about drivers for the VMWare. Except of hosting a OpenBSD on a insecure ESX-Server maybe hosting other x86er OSs on OpenBSD would be the better choice (if possible... some day). Because of the mp-issue qemu is not realy useable at all for anything except you either tollerate a much lower reaction time (+ cpu consumton) or you use a single-core kernel (wich is pretty logical in a quad-core++ age.. :/). Of course you can't emulate sparc if you use the intel/amd tweaks but those who do so could use still qemu. It's just an idea but maybe somebody with time + a clue reads this and takes it as a inspiration. Maybe a student project or something like this. So please no flamewar, it's realy just a idea I thought wich may would be worth of writing down so that people may find it when they google for "openbsd qemu freeze". :) Kind regards, Sebastian
