Two possibilities:
1. You missed the 2008/11/06 update in the "Following -current" FAQ.
2. You are running out-of-sync, per FAQ 15.4.1.
I'm guessing #1, but both are "known", and surmountable.
I follow -current and I'm running the new Xorg. My last -current build
was 2008/11/19.
I don't really don't know why xfce don't start at all now...
