This is a port of discount [1], a C implemetation of the Markdown
text-to-html converter. It's several orders of magnitude faster than the
original Perl version or the Python package at textproc/markdown [2],
and includes both a C library and a standalone executable. (In order to
avoid a name collision with textproc/markdown, I've renamed the
standalone program from "markdown" to "discount". The library is still
libmarkdown.) A separate port of the Lua wrapper for discount will be
posted soon, as well.

The tarball is at http://shenani.gen.nz/~scott/ports/discount.tgz , and
has been tested on amd64 and i386. Please test and commit.

Also: It has a 4-clause BSD license (with the 3rd attribution clause).
Should this affect the PERMIT_... lines in the makefile?
