I am unlikely to have time to fix this and it seems hardly worth it considering TeX Live 2009 will be out soon, hopefully with a much newer version of ConTeXt. I may check this is true. Maybe you can use a local texmf in ~/texmf to install a newer context. This will require some changes to your texmf.cmf. Run `kpsewhich texmf.cnf` to find this file. You will need to double exclaim !! your TEXMFHOME and check it is in TEXMFS and TEXMF_DBS before the other standard trees (off the top of my head).
