Hmmm... on the screen, I see:

# env FETCH_PACKAGES=yes make package
===> www/php5/core
===>  Looking for php5-core-5.2.12.tgz in $PKG_PATH - 

with the cursor sitting at the end of the line. This is on yet another
machine, but here, the attempt to find a pre-built package timed out
pretty quickly, and the machine proceeded to fetch the package.

I don't know/understand what caused the problem yesterday.
