if you're using the reference clock audio support in net/ntp, your
time is off.
latency of the recorded data is obviously critical. this is what the
code does to set latency:

that has never had any effect on OpenBSD, neither has it ever produced an
error. it works on real Sun audio. just another example of how audio(4)
is *not* compatible with Sun audio, and thinking it is will screw you.
