Blinking cursor is on by default (for quite some time now):
"Options/Blinking Cursor" if you have the menubar or "M-x
customize-apropos / blink"

It might be related to your display resolution on linux.

There still is a "-fno-stack-protector" for powerpc architecture in this
port but I don't know (and cannot test) if it is still revelant.

I'd like to have opinions or tests regarding the mips64 patches.
