Experimenting with this some more, it does happen on UFS filesystems as well 
(contrary to my earlier email) - just not all the time like it does with MSDOS. 
I reproduced the same issue with a UFS usb memory stick, and also with a UFS 
usb hard drive (500gb buffalo).
