I think this may not be an issue with the port, but instead something driver- or SDL-related. I see this behavior often: when a fullscreen app crashes, fullscreen is completely broken and fails to restore correctly after *any* SDL app until X is restarted. Thanks, a short while ago Nick Holland showed me what is probably the same crash. I can't reproduce this at all on i386, so I guess the port will have to wait until I have access to my amd64 box again (several weeks at least)...
