Please contact the libinotify developer. I know him and last time I had a chat 
with him he was going back to libinotify development.
Just see with him whether there are known outstdaning issues that he did not 
commit yet and see if he can release a proper updated release. 
The reason is that I already have a port of libinotify, but at the time I made 
it there were some serious issues and as far as I can see, not much was done 
for more than a year.
Also at the time, lots of stuffs picked it up and broke... (and I don't see the 
relation with gnome, inotify is linux).
