Manually installing py-gobject3 did the trick for me. I already had gtk+3 on my system. I just got an e-mail from David Coppa and it looks like he could not reproduce my problem. I would sware that I have pristine non-broken python27 environment where I used pip install only for youtube-dl but I might have done something stupid. It would not have being the first time.
