One reason was math/octave having problems/crashing with Gnuplot 5 at that time. Our Octave in ports is 4.0.2 from 2016-04-21 (according to the timestamps in https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/octave/). So I guess it can cope with Gnuplot 5 now. There is also a recent Octave (4.2.1) in openbsd-wip (but I do not know if the update is finished) just in case. Best regards, Ingo
