I just submitted them because I need hwdec on my Intel hardware to reduce frame dropping. If they are going to be part of base, that's even better! Right now I'm focusing on porting the newest intel-media-driver for >= Broadwell CPUs (in this archive I only ported the old intel-vaapi-driver).
