>From today's NY Times:
Tom Waits, who hasn't toured in more than 10 years, may be back on the
road. The reclusive
performer, whose concert appearances this decade have been
chiefly limited to benefits, is looking
into a small tour to support his first album of new music in six
years, "Mule Variations." The 16-song
record, with guest appearances from the quirk-rock band Primus
and the blues harmonica master
Charlie Musselwhite, is due on April 20 on Epitaph Records, best
known for its punk bands. A
spokeswoman for Epitaph said that no performances have been
confirmed, but Waits is looking at
dates in April and May, including shows in New York and Los
Angeles.
Waits has also been busy playing a perverted doctor in "Mystery
Men," a film starring Janeane
Garafalo, Ben Stiller and William H. Macy about a group of
bumbling superheroes. The movie is
scheduled to open on Aug. 9.
