Ran across this on the Rockabilly Hall of Fame website this morning.
I've heard rumors for a month or two that some kind of investigation was
underway, but this seems to put a sharper focus on things.

Tammy Wynette's daughters want her body exhumed

Even after the death of this legendary superstar in country music
controversy still looms, this time above her grave. NewsChannel 5 in
Nashville on Wednesday reported that letters from the daughters on Tammy
Wynette had been sent to the Medical Examiner's office requesting her
body be exhumed, and was leaked to the tabloids. The Globe somehow bought
the letters and published them. The daughters claim in the letters that
Wynette may have been murdered. In the letters they claim that Wynette's
husband kept her sedated to the point she had to be hospitalized. The
letters also talk about Tammy's relationship with her husband, her
medication and her health. It also goes into depth about the day she
died, how things were handled and what the maid was told to do. It turns
out that Chris Tassie, a Medical Examiner's office employee took the
letters. He says that he tried to sell the letters to some of the local
media in Nashville. How the letters ended up in the hands of the Globe no
one is saying. Tassie says he did not sell the letters to the tabloid.
Other people in the office did make copies of the letters he claims. The
Medical Examiner, Dr. Bruce Levy, says that his office is investigating
the release of the letters. Levy also says that he and the District
Attorney will meet with Wynette's daughters to see if there is anything
they can confirm about her death.
