If Musician mag did indeed fold they have nobody to blame but themselves.
I read it with fervor a 5-10 years ago and it seemed a great alternative to Rolling
Stone/SPIN and even gear-oriented things like Guitar Player.
I subscribed for about a year and got instantly sick of all the navel-gazing features
on this or that $8,000 digital mixing board that about 10 people in the free world can
own/afford/use.
I understand that digital/MIDI/etc. are here to stay and powerful tools for making
music, but it's like they took the grand tour of the "names" once and never checked
back in. Albums by obscure jazz guitarists always got more ink than albums by obscure
punk or country (ND, etc.) acts.
At least Kelly's getting some play before the lights go out.
