Well, if this was so - we'd be listening to opera in a very different
way. Opera is different than just plain ol' music because it relies on a
libretto and it relies on voice parts and recurring themes etc. I
guess the "killer track" of an opera are in its arias - maybe there's a
TR aria that kicks (if so, Iris Dement would be singing it - or Dolores
Keane). If it
wasn't for opera we wouldn't have classical music and we wouldn't have
concept albums either I reckon.

So TR's new one is made to rely on more than just the song itself - it is
called a folk-opera after all so view it in the context of an opera. TR
doesn't really follow the opera motif to the hilt - there's no storyline
the way an opera is developed (but then again, the libretto is usually
the least important part of the opera), but there are musical parts and
themes which I happen to really like.

I agree that his new cd doesn't have a killer track - it is not the
standard pop music record either, but I find it compelling stuff.

keep dancing,
