reminds me of this story when Tom "Deliberate Stranger" Moran invites me to
the Squirrel Cage to meet his friend Reid Paley for some drinks one night.
Tom and Reid spend the evening catching up on old times with their friends,
and I'm stuck talking to this guy named "Charles" all night. A real nice
fella with a good grasp on the music industry who outpaced me in the drinks
all night long (which was ok, 'cuz he kept buying). Now, apparantly the kids
know this "Charles" character under the monikers of Frank Black (or Black
Francis depending on your age). Crazy, eh?
of course, Gravel Train Mitch told me that he's always known Dave Alvin as
just "Dave"....
