For those wishing to know: William Hewitt (c1805-9 October 1876) was a surgeon in Norfolk who was horified that non-medical people were allowed to be coroners. Here he puts forward cases where a non-medical cononer made an error of judgement which a medical man would not have made. Mis-carriages of justice resulted.
