About 10 years ago, Oracle switched the licencing for Berkeley DB to AGPL. As a result, most distributions decided to stick to the versions prior to the licence change and there were (and are) some initiatives throughout the years to stop shipping Berkeley DB at the distro level. I am also not sure if Berkeley DB is maintained at Oracle anymore.
Having said that, Berkeley DB is mature software and it works and is widely available in various *nixes. Still, would it be prudent or worth the effort to change the default db type to something else in postfix-3.9?
