People generally rely on optimizations when budgeting their resources.
Just saying.

How to phase out Berkeley DB support is a distro specific decision.
Gradual phase out where there is still Berkeley DB support but default
changes to lmdb is definitely an alternative. Perhaps worth supporting
this option as well.
