To use noplaintext in postfix, the AUTH provider -- Dovecot in this
case -- must be configured to support some non-plaintext mechanism,
eg. dovecot.conf:
auth default {
mechanisms = login plain cram-md5
...
(followups for dovecot auth questions on the dovecot-users list).
Also note that some popular email clients only support PLAIN and/or
LOGIN and won't be able to send mail with noplaintext.
