You're connected to an SMTP server, it is expecting you to enter an
SMTP command!  In this case "QUIT" would be best.

The OpenSsl s_client(1) command completes a connection, and leaves it to the
user to transmit any desired data and interpret the responses.  It does
however interpret some data typed by the user.  Thus lines starting with "R"
will be taken to mean that an SSL re-negotiation should take place.
