I see a rule on my firewall defining a custom port of 645 as smtps, yet
I cannot find anything at iana on this and googling does not explain
it. 'netstat -na|grep 645' does not show anything listening on this
port. No telling how many servers ago this rule got added.
smtps is 465 not 645 and *not used* for MTA-to-MTA
Is this some old bogus holdover, or something I should be using?
it's called deprecated and used for clients the same way as 993/995 for
imap/pop3 over TLS without STARTTLS - but your port is completly wrong
Still trying to figure out why yahoo won't email me...
unrelated
*any server* aout there deliver mail to you will do that over port 25
with or without STARTTLS and as long you can see no connection in the
maillog postfix is not involved at all
