More or less you are correct, it would be possible to
implement this in python/perl. However, this would mean that
I have to implement a complete SMTP Command interpreter for
only getting some meta data from the postfix smtpd command session.
What I think is strange is that this envelope-id(ENVID) value is
not passed to the called(piped) process as environment variables.
The ip address and lots of other command session meta data is
namely passed this way so why is the ENVID left out?.
If it would be possible to set an option to actually let either
smtpd or pipe set some environment variable with this meta data
it would be of great help, and would simplify our implementation a lot.
Which is in relation to security and support a better approach.
