Hello,
We are receiving mail delivered to users that don't exist.
In our valias.txt file, we have the usual aliases like this:
[email protected] [email protected]
[email protected] [email protected]
and at the bottom is something like this for other domains we own:
@domain2.com @domain.com
@domain3.com @domain.com
The problem we are having is that email coming in addressed to our
other domains like "[email protected]" are NOT being rejected even
though there is no user foobar nor any alias [email protected]. The
bogus mails are being stored in new user folders like:
/var/spool/mail/domain.com/foobar.
We kind of assumed that the domain aliases would still get checked
for valid users. Is this a bug or is that a bad assumption?
Wildcard aliases defeat recipient validation.
This is also true for wildcard canonical map rewrites.
The solution is to get rid of the wildcards and use 1-1 mappings.
