I can confirm the expected result for MacOS High Sierra . . . but interestingly 
enough, I get the FreeBSD 11 results on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Are there any other tests I can try to confirm the existence of GNU extensions 
to POSIX regular expressions ?
