Maybe it does not like the AUTH line. What happens when you
only keep the "250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN" part?

   /etc/postfix/main.cf:
       smtp_reply_filter = pcre:/etc/postfix/reply_filter

   /etc/postfix/reply_filter:
       /^(250.AUTH LOGIN PLAIN)/ $1

Caution: this is a sharp tool that replaces server responses.
