Yes, that's exactly what happens in many container based setups when a container is not running anymore - it's DNS name get's retracted. DNS entries are handled by the container engine and dynamically added and removed to allow inter-container communication. Postfix even got some code to handle some DNS related error conditions like that in 3.7.1.
