Hi,

The problem is the GDAL PostGIS Raster driver. With the last update
(in GDAL trunk), that operation must be much faster. Could you give it
a try? Just download and install current GDAL from trunk (or the last
trunk snapshot from http://www.gdal.org/daily/)
