Hi,

I am a Mac user and have been a happy consumer of Kyngchaos PostgreSQL and
PostGIS builds for many years.  However, there are a couple of extensions I’m
interested in trying that Mr. Kyngesburye doesn’t supply, including PLV8 (I
want to see if PLV8 will speed up some raster MapAlgebra problems).

I am interested in getting a package for OS X that 1) has the latest stable
features, 2) includes most/all extensions, and 3) can be upgraded with too much
pain and suffering.  The PostGIS download page lists a few options including
BigSQL, EnterpriseDb, and Homebrew, but the descriptions are quite
unopinionated (the BigSQL integration with Hadoop appeals to me, if they’re all
equal in other respects).  Does anyone have recommendations or warnings about
those options?  Switching distributions would probably not be easy, so I want
to go into it with open eyes.

Thanks!

John Payne
