Are you connecting and (not) disconnecting every time you log a piece of data, or maybe maintaining one DB connection for each device? Sounds like either (a) you're hitting the postgres connection limit (see the postgresql.conf, but more importantly fix your code), or (b) you've managed to crash one of the server's child processes (unlikely). Either way, as Mateusz said, have a look in the logs.
