Hi, if I understand correctly, You are trying to backport PostGIS package from testing or unstable to Lenny. If so, You must change package dependencies in 'debian/control' file to fit in Lenny. Change 'libproj-dev' to 'proj' and 'postgresql-server-dev-8.4' to 'postgresql-server-dev-8.3'. And try.
