Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is looking for a geospatial developer to help support the development the LINZ Data Service (LDS). The LDS uses multiple open source applications, and LINZ has a number of other applications that use industry standard geospatial tools. The geospatial developer will thereby be involved in work that utilises and integrates data and applications across the breadth of the geospatial field. The successful applicant will have: - a tertiary qualification in a relevant area - significant knowledge of geospatial open source systems - significant experience in Perl, Python, or php or scripting - significant experience in PostgreSQL application development, including PostGIS spatial extension, Pl/pgsql stored procedure language - proficiency doing geospatial data translation, ideally using gdal/ogr, FDO or FME - proficiency using LINUX as a development and operating environment - strong written and spoken English to be able to elicit and interpret the needs of a wide range of people with varying technical backgrounds Preferably the successful applicant will have: - experience in C++ development using Microsoft Visual Studio - experience in QGIS core development - experience in QGIS python plug-in development - actively participated in open source projects using geospatial technologies Please see http://ww.linz.govt.nz/about-linz/organisation/careers to apply for the position.
