The JTS area algorithm has been tweaked slightly recently, but that's not it - I get the same answer with JTS 1.8 (which uses the original algorithm).

I'm guessing PostGIS doesn't use GEOS for area, right?

Anyway, looks like it's fixed in the latest version.
