Hi all. It may be of interest to this list: yesterday we pushed the DB Manager plugin to QGIS-master, so this will be available in the upcoming (1.8) release of QGIS. It supports both SpatiaLite and PostGIS, allows drag&drop import of tables from shp and SpatiaLite, etc. It does not require shp2pgsql to be installed in your machine.
