Hi, First, to clarify for others, the "this" in "figure this out" is how to upload a GPS trace then convert it to a way. I guess it's possible to figure out (I managed it), but it's not very discoverable.
Speaking for myself, I think the current feature is a bit flawed, and simply making it easier to discover is risky. Converting an entire GPS trace to a way with a single click has the potential to create a mess, or to leave the user thinking they've done something useful - when actually there's still a lot of work left. Possible improvements: - convert only sections of trace at a time (perhaps the part that is visible on screen, or some fixed number of nodes) - don't convert the whole way, but allow a key (F, perhaps) to "follow" a GPS trace, just like you can follow another way. - somehow wizardify the whole process Steve On Sun, May 20, 2012 at 10:11 PM, SomeoneElse <li...@mail.atownsend.org.uk> wrote: > This message was prompted by this question on the OSM help site: > > http://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/12811/ive-uploaded-a-gps-track-whats-the-easiest-way-to-add-it-to-the-map > > Basically, is there any way that a new (or not so new) user of Potlatch2 > could figure this out for themselves by looking at the help screens, or by > some other documentation that I may not be aware of? > > If not, is that deliberate (to keep the in-app help screens relatively > concise) or just the usual case of "patches welcome"? > > Cheers, > Andy > > > _______________________________________________ > Potlatch-dev mailing list > Potlatch-dev@openstreetmap.org > http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/potlatch-dev _______________________________________________ Potlatch-dev mailing list Potlatch-dev@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/potlatch-dev
