Subject: Re: [Potteries Hackspace] Re: Hackspace Status?

Hey Federico,

Sorry for the late reply. I won’t be able to make it tonight and I’m not sure
we have a quorum to open unfortunately, unless anyone else replies to this that
is.

We moved from Tuesday to Wednesday during the AGM. Changes can be suggested via
GitHub to the website, but I’ll see if I can make the change.

https://github.com/PotteriesHackspace/potterieshackspace.github.com

Would be great to meet up, quite a few of us are into Arduino projects too,
I’ve been tinkering with the ESP8266 again recently.

Apologies again, hopefully I can make it again soon.

Cheers.

Hi jpswade,

Yes sorry - I meant 2nd of March I'll make my way to the open evening. Are you
park of the organising committee? I just went to double-check the date on the
website and would like to let someone know that the about page
(https://potterieshackspace.org.uk/about) mentions that it's the first Tuesday
of the month whereas the events page & calendar & AGM notes mention Wednesday.

I've got a longer background in technical computer/IT/software work but most
recently I've completed a Sustainability & Green Technology MSc at Keele
University so I'm in that in-between area of careers and interests. I'm still a
computer scientist at heart but I want to apply my learnings to make the world
a better place in the future. I've also started watching a whole bunch of
Arduino videos on Youtube and would really love to start experimenting with IoT
applications such as decreasing home energy use. I'll probably order an Arduino
starter kit when I get paid next month to experiment with creating some IoT
sensors. I want to come to the hackspace to see if I can benefit from the
Arduino kit (if any) to learn more about specific sensors so I don't waste time
& money buying the wrong pieces from Ali Express. I imagine I'll become a
member if the space is open more frequently than once a month and the equipment
available is useful since I don't really have a workspace at home. I'm also
looking forward to meeting more likeminded geeks/makers in Stoke since I only
moved here in Nov 2020 during the pandemic to pursue my MSc and haven't met
many people yet!

Have you been involved at the hackspace as well? What have you been up to /
what are your interests?

Kind regards,
Federico

Hi Federico,

Did you mean 2nd March?

I plan on going down again soon if I can, however with Covid we’ve had a bit of
a hiatus.

Hope to get restarted again soon though.

Maybe you can tell us a bit about what you’re in to or interesting in.

Cheers.

I'd also like to understand the situation. I'm planning on showing up at 50
Broad Street on the 2nd of Feb to see if the open nights are still running

Hey

I'd like to rejoin... what's the situation?

Had my first vaccine a month ago and am happy to wear a mask...

I could come to the open night but need an excuse to get out of the house
sooner! :)

Do you still have a regular night where most people attend?

Cheers

Mark
