Hi Ozkan

Sorry for the delay in replying. Thankyou again for your help. The
script worked a treat... except the Debug line just
resulted in the message:

End of file is in line &(numLine - 1)

I can't seem to get the value of the variable to _display_ at all,
but I can use it together with the first script to do what I want, so
I am happy.

bizaro:
Thanks, but I couldn't get your succinct version to work at all.

Best
Paul

lines in the file automatically rather than have me manually change
the script?
