Hi Luciano L> All of my PowerPro icons come from an ICL file. I run Windows 98.
That's good news - especially if you mean that the DefaultIcon key for a filetype in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT section of the registry can be set to "c:\pathto\filename.icl,3" ____________________________________________ L> I am reading messages and trying to understand this thread, L> but to no avail. L> Why is Alan [Martin] making so many stunning sexy jaw-dropping icons? Why is Alan Campbell making so many excellent plugins? Why do birds sing? Why do cows moo? That's not a quiz; they are rhetorical questions. _____________________________________________ L> Why is Bruce taking part in the discussion? See answer above :-) More specifically, because some people would like a change in how PowerPro uses icons. Currently, Debug shows the same icon as pproconf. That makes it difficult to switch tasks using an icons-only active bar. So it's not only a design issue but also a programming issue. Part of the plan is that powerpro.exe would contain two or three more icons than now, so it can show a different one for debug windows for example. ____________________________________________ L> I think icons should be additional trinkets provided L> by the community, not part of the distribution. That too is part of the plan. Bruce wrote that he does not plan to include alternate sets of icons in the distro. He plans to make it easier for people to download .icl files provided by the community and then instruct PowerPro to use an alternate set instead of the built in icons. There is no need to participate in that if you don't want to. Those who prefer not to customise with .icl files can continue to let Powerpro show its built in icons as before. _____________________________________________ Don't be put off by the large number of icons in each set which I uploaded. PowerPro will only use a few of those. Users may optionally use the extras in their own configs. For example: the MiscPlugin messagebox allows the user to specify an icon. Because I provided those extras, you could show a question mark or exclamation mark icon which matches the icons which you asked PowerPro to use. Or you might want your menu item for PowerPro Help to look like a normal Help icon plus a PowerPro flavor, so it will be visually consistent with whatever set you asked PowerPro to use. If you don't like that idea, just don't use the extras. _____________________________________________ At this time, when Bruce is adding a couple more internal icons to PowerPro itself, it's an opportunity to either: - radically change the general design of its icons. (set B) - or only enhance them a little. (set C) - or just make the new icons for Debug, etc, closely resemble the old design. (set A) That's what the Poll is for. ___________________________________________ I hope that helps to clarify what is happening. Alan M ------------------------ Yahoo!
