I'd like to set up a keystroke macro which eats the next few keystrokes (probably up to the next space, to capture a "word") and do something depending on those keys.
The idea is to be able to set up a prefix key, for example F12, so that I can assign actions to <F12>whatever<space>. This would have a number of benefits to me: 1. I only need a single "global" hot key. 2. The trigger words are never seen by the application, so there are no issues with stopping the application reacting (sometimes a problem with ;-prefix hot keys) 3. I have a huge range of possible triggers 4. The triggers can be mnemonic (<F12>excel<space> to start Excel). Is this possible? Presumably it could be done with a suitable plugin, if nothing else...
