Thanks a lot for the quick help! Unluckily, this doesn't seem to display
the language setting I'm talking about. It seems to display the system's
basic setting, not the one that can be changed to switch between keyboard
layouts. 

On my system, it shows "1033" all the time, which is US English, the basic
setting. It does not change when I switch the language setting associated
with keyboard layouts.

I don't know the API that returns that setting, but I can research that --
if that helps.
