If you set the wallpaper to anything other than a bitmap, windows converts it to a bitmap, stores it in the location you described, and sets it as the wallpaper. I think the registry key I mentioned references the original PNG/GIF/JPG or whatever, but "debug &(paper)" references the actual bitmap, which could be regarded as more accurate. I haven't tested this David (the OP), but perhaps if you deleted the item referenced by the registry key, that will be enough since the wallpaper1.bmp is temporary anyway.
