I have a "shutdown" command without the reboot option on a menu of the
active title bar but it is highly unlikely that this is getting
selected due to its placement. In fact I have had the same setup for
some time now and the only time I've see the reboot is after the 4.3
upgrade.

Good suggestipn but not very likely this is the cause. Can you think
of anything else?
