I have searched the archives back as far as January 2004, using
various search strings like: dos & performance, console & slow, etc,
and could not find any messages saying that PowerPro was
slowing down the console window.

If anybody finds that a dos window in 95/98
or a cmd.exe console window in 2000/XP
slows down only when PowerPro is running:

The first thing to try is to uncheck (or maybe gray check)
"Recognise keyboard hotkeys when Dos/Console window is active"
in Key/Mouse Setup

If unchecking that box fixes it, you could either leave it
unchecked (and have no PowerPro hotkeys in the console)

or (if you wish to keep some hotkeys functioning in the console)
you could experiment to find out which hotkey(s), such as
maybe your macro intro key, are causing the slowdown.
Individual hotkeys can be enabled/disabled with
Exec hotkeys on | off | reverse <list of hotkey names>

There are other possibilities such as if you did anything to
modify PowerPro's or the console's process priority.

Help says: "You can specify that PowerPro should recognize
keyboard hotkeys entered when a Dos or console window is active,
except for tap keys and *Macro keys. Gray check if you find slow
performance with *Keys commands; however, if you gray check you
may have problems if you send hot key characters with *Keys."
