thanks, unfortunately I can't grant Admin priviledges to all users,  though 
it's a pain to work with restricted 
user accounts.
I read somewhere that assigning restricted users to the Compatibility security 
template would allow them 
to run legacy applications, but even that didn't the HookWindowEvents error 
message. As Sean pointed 
out, no less that Admin priviledge is necessary to run multiple copies of 
powerpro.
