I traced it back to an incompatibility with the 4nt command-line shell. Would
you be willing to take a
look at why powerpro freezes in this case? In order to replicate, you need to
grab an evaluation version
of 4nt from http://www.jpsoft.com -- it's a very clean install, 4nt is a
command-line program and it
doesn't use the registry. This is happening on winXP sp1 and sp2 with 4nt
version 6.x.

Powerpro right-wheel task switching freezes exactly when 4nt is reading from
the right half of a
redirected pipe, for example:

Start a ** 4NT ** command box. in it. At the command prompt type

sort | y

and leave it there. Click on another window. Right-wheel to switch tasks,
nothing happens, Powerpro is
frozen. Kill the 4NT window, or just the 4nt process that is executing y;
powerpro unfreezes. Note that in
this example an instance of 4nt.exe is reading from the pipe via the 4nt y
builtin -copy stdin to stdout.

Now open another 4NT box. Type

y | sort

and repeat the above procedure. Powerpro doesn't freeze because in this second
example 4NT isn't
reading from the pipe, c:\windows\system32\sort.exe is.
