Hi list,
Every so often the tray icon for my wireless connection disappears.
I like to have this icon, (it's the 2 little computers that show when
data is being transferred), so to get it back normally what I do is go
into Network Connections, right-click Wireless Connection & choose
Properties, untick the box "Show icon in taskbar when connected", click
OK to shut the dialog, right-click Wireless Connection & choose
Properties again, this time tick the same box, then once more click OK.
And then the icon is back.
Bit of a pain, so today I investigated & found the registry key that
holds this setting, and with Alan's reg plugin came up with this
command, which will toggle the setting:
reg.set_dword(?"HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Network\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\{A6412256-7CE4-4898-9DC8-7950B06D9708}\Connection\ShowIcon",
1)
However, it doesn't actually rejig the icon into displaying again. I've
tried a TrayIcon.Refresh, but that doesn't have any effect.
I'm guessing there's some Windows call that would be made to the system
tray when this setting is changed via the dialog... anyone know how I
can do the same via script?
Thanks for any help,
Karen
