Well I found a solution to this problem which has bugged me ever since XP was installed. I think there is a problem with Keytrap setting Numlock on and off, I could never get it to work at all.
However I found a freeware program that will force Numlock to be in either state: http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/numlock I put a shortcut to this program into the startup to make sure that numlock is ON when Windows starts, as I want. From web searches I gather that the state of numlock is supposed to be saved when you close Windows and should revert when you log in, but that did not work for me. Setting Numlock to on in the bios, or editing the registry to turn it on, also didn't work. Powerpro is always running, so in Powerpro I have a script which runs when Numlock is pressed. When that happens numlock goes off, the scrip waits for a short time, then runs the freeware program to set numlock back on. Attention: PowerPro's Web site has moved: http://www.ppro.org Yahoo!
